The IBS Advisors Team
Brett Dillon | Managing Director
Brett founded Dillon Consulting (now IBS Advisors) because his purpose, his reason for existence on this planet, is to help other people succeed in becoming the best person to fill the role that their own purpose demands.
He saw a parallel need for business to do that as well-to become the best at what they were designed for.
Brett’s background is as varied as the services IBS Advisors provides.
Raised in a home building industry, Brett kept trying to run away from his vocation. For over a decade, he worked in law enforcement, as a private investigator specializing in surveillance, a security consultant in Central America, a professional submission fighter, and a pro-wrestler.
No matter how hard he tried, he always kept coming back to building and renovating homes.
Passionate about social justice, Brett finished his homebuilding career working as the Construction Director for the Habitat of Humanity affiliate in Chattanooga, Tennessee. But it was at a conference in Jacksonville, Florida, that he was confronted with a new paradigm that shifted him away from doing things the way they’ve always been done.
Thanks to Janet McIlvaine and Graham Davis, he transformed the way the affiliate built their homes. This saved money while improving comfort, durability, indoor air quality, and performance.
Brett went on to work for Southface in their local green building program EarthCraft House. He was the first Regional Program Manager, taking that program out of Atlanta to deployment state-wide in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. Brett was also one of their lead trainers for energy code workshops, HERS Rater training, and Building America workshops.
Brett left Southface to work with Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, a non-profit that specialized in urban redevelopment and revitalization. As the Development Program Manager, he was responsible for quality control. While there, he developed construction specifications for high performance homes.
After Brett left CNE, Dillon Consulting (now IBS Advisors), was formed.
Brett was a member of the RESNET Board of Directors for 7 years, where he served as the secretary on the Executive Committee and as the Chair of the Technical Committee and the RESNET ANSI Standards Development Committee. He also served on the RESNET ANSI Standards Management Board for over 3 years. Brett is a RESNET-credentialed Quality Assurance Designee and a Rater Trainer, as well a former USGBC LEED for Home faculty member.
All of these experiences prepared Brett for achieving his life purpose: to help others expand into their potential.
